Demystifying COVID-19 financial hardship funds

Confused about what funds are available, and which one's you're eligible for? Read on...

With many sources of information on the internet it can be confusing to figure out what you might be eligible for. If you're an international student currently studying at SAIBT or CELUSA and you've been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic you may be eligible for one of the below funds.
SA Government's International Student Support Package (ISSP)
What is it?
The ISSP is a once-off payment of $500 provided by the South Australian Government for South Australian-based international students whose income has been substantially affected by COVID-19.
How do I apply?
There are different ways to apply, depending on what you're studying now, and if you have a packaged program with UniSA or Le Cordon Bleu.

If you're completing a stand-alone program at SAIBT or CELUSA you will need to apply for the ISSP via StudyAdelaide. Applications are now open.

Navitas Hardship Fund
What is it?
This is a hardship fund specifically for current international students at SAIBT or CELUSA, to support students who can demonstrate they are experiencing severe financial hardship directly related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
How do I apply?
Visit the Hardship Fund page in Moodle

Click on Navitas Hardship Application Form:

Email your supporting documents to SAIBT.CELUSA.StudentServices@navitas.com
Await your outcome by email. You might be required to attend a Zoom interview, or provide additional documentations. If successful you will need to complete a Grant form so we can transfer the approved funds to your nominated bank account.
Please note, the UniSA Student Hardship Fund (COVID-19) is specifically for current UniSA students. Current SAIBT or CELUSA students are NOT eligible to access this fund.
Where can I find more support?
There are community support services that may be available to you at this time including access to food.
Anglicare SA - For an appointment, call 1800 061 552 (Northern Adelaide) or 1800 748 149 (Southern Adelaide)
Baptist Care SA - For an appointment, call 08 8118 5200 (Eastern Adelaide). Or visit the Baptist Care Community Food Hub located at 216 Wright Street in the city (open Monday to Thursday). Bread, fruit and vegetables are free, and all other items are heavily discounted.
Foodbank - Open Monday to Friday, the Foodbank Food Hubs are located in Bowden, Christies Beach, Edwardstown and Elizabeth. Bread, fruit and vegetables are free and all other items are heavily discounted.
UnitingCare Wesley Bowden - For an appointment, call 08 8245 7139 (Western Adelaide).
Uniting Communities - For an appointment, call 08 8202 5846 or to visit, find locations at the Uniting Communities website. They offer food and chemist vouchers, assistance with bills and expenses and access to no interest loans.
