As a student of SAIBT or CELUSA you may be struggling with the multiple changes to your study and personal life due to COVID-19 and the challenges that has brought - some suggestions and words of support from our student counsellor.

As we embrace the week ahead, I encourage us all to reflect on all the amazing things we have achieved so far.

As a student of SAIBT or CELUSA you are part of our community and our staff are always available to support you.

When I see our students and staff coming together in the virtual world, I am so proud to be part of our community. We are connected, dedicated and proactive.

The transition online and working from home has not been without challenges. As we will face many more challenges ahead, it is important to recognise that we are learning from this experience. As individuals within our community, we are building our strengths to remain resilient now and in the future.

As we move forward, we can support each other to find new fun and engaging ways to communicate and learn. If you have any ideas, talk to your teacher, they would love to hear from you.

It is important to keep our thoughts in the present moment and focus on what we can control. Allow yourself to learn and grow in the present moment without judgement. Stay connected and focused with INTENT!

Some helpful tips below to assist with staying in a productive mindset:

  • Get up at the usual time and get dressed for study – having a shower and dressing in more professional attire is one way to mentally prepare for study. It is a physical reminder that you are going to be studying today.

  • Look at the physical setup – ensure you space is ergonomically safe and private

  • Limit distractions – avoid being distracted by other to do lists around the home or social media, gaming etc.

  • Breaks – ensure you plan and set your break times, just like if you were in class.

  • If you have others in your home, ensure they understand that you are studying. Give them approximate times for your break and ask them to limit interruptions to those times. Maybe a communication book may help.

  • Contact us if you have any problems.
